Dinning Room |
The interior of the Lodge highlights the naturalness
of the area with native knotty white pine covering much of the cathedral
ceiling common area, dining room, and “log cabin” den. Northern
white cedar is found in the staircase railings and custom-made bed
construction. Guest rooms are highlighted with natural wood finish and
color coordinated bed spreads and furnishings. Walls are decorated with
pictures and prints of the first settler in Weston as well as the
natural fauna and flora of the area. Lakes and mountains can be viewed
from every room through strategically placed windows and doors.
The view from the dining room of First Settler’s Lodge overlooks East Grand Lake,
the highlands of Weston, and the hills of New Brunswick. There is a sense of relaxed naturalness that truly
complements the country-style
gourmet home-cooked foods. Breakfasts
and dinners are served individually from a menu or family style under a
modified American Plan. Guests may also have homemade lunches prepared
for the trail, woods, or waters. Meals are offered to the general public
with advance reservations. Main
course selections may include choices of prime rib, steak, lobster,
baked haddock, salmon steak, roast pork, roast lamb, grilled chicken,
turkey, or pasta. Old fashioned bean-hole beans and cornbread are
available on special occasions. The kitchen staff at First Settler’s
will make every effort to meet special dietary needs
"But
this lodge on the edge of the States is not merely a place to sleep; it's the
countryside that the Cleaves want their guests to enjoy, either by snowshoeing
or fishing, or snowmobiling or kayaking. They can, for a modest fee, set you up
in just about any activity. Even moose-viewing." - John Deiner, Sunday
